Love Stage follows Izumi Sena as he pursues his ambition of becoming a manga artist despite experiencing stage fright. Their feelings continue to develop even ten years later.

30 Best Boys Love Anime You Must Watch

1. Sasaki and Miyano

Sasaki and Miyano

Slice-of-life anime fans must watch this series! It features charming characters with endearing relationships. Just an hour-long show can give an hour of pure sweetness! Perfect if you want a sweet romance!

Sasaki’s confession of his affection for Miyano causes an uproar: they had only seen each other as friends until now and never thought to consider romantic possibilities between them. What makes this confession truly unique, however, is not its inane babble but instead an open declaration of his affections for Miyano.

As the story progresses, Miyano becomes wary that Sasaki may not share his open attitude toward sexual orientation. They both enjoy discussing BL manga together but it may prove challenging for him to pursue romance with someone who doesn’t share his view on liking boys.

Miyano is an attentive boy who’s also fiercely protective of those close to him. Although often cheerful and gentle-spoken, when necessary he can become an intimidating force. Unfortunately, he struggles with self-confidence due to his height, frame, and delicate features (causing him to alter his appearance in the past), yet has several close friends that he trusts who offer incredible support as he discusses his emotions with them.

2. Hyperventilation

Hyperventilation

Story about two people who fall deeply in love but are forbidden from meeting. A masterpiece in storytelling; its minimal dialogues and stunning setting create an exquisite tension that makes us eagerly anticipate meeting them again.

This anime, first released in 2017, was written and illustrated by Bboong Bbang Kkyu and published by Abj Company as an adaptation of a manhwa. 18+ BL anime features two former high school classmates who meet again during a reunion and reignite their feelings for one another.

The show centres around two young boys who stand out from their peers. Yuki is an introverted and quiet individual who never excelled at anything, while Mignon is an ambitious boxer looking for success in life. They end up falling for each other despite their differences and entering an intense romance together.

Korean BL comics are revolutionizing the industry and challenging Japanese anime head-on. Abj’s works like Hyperventilation, Unbelievable Space Love and Mignon push boundaries with their bold narrative and artistic quality, offering readers a refreshing take on this genre while exploring new aspects of the BL universe through strong storytelling and strong character development.

3. Antidote

Antidote

This anime offers another take on romantic relationships, but the romantic element may not be what you expect. Instead, this show takes more of a shounen-ai approach where friendship is the core value. The story revolves around two protagonists; Cheng Ke, a young sand painter who was kicked out of his home, and Jiang Yu Duo who is seen as an intimidating leader with soft spots but ultimately follows his heart despite their differences in social status and outlook on life.

Although their backgrounds differ greatly, they eventually grow closer and form strong friendships as time goes on. Each helps the other through difficult times in their way while sharing secrets – doing things they would otherwise not be able to do due to their different backgrounds.

The story explores relationships and their potential toxicity through John Gottman’s Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, four common patterns that erode love and are caused by pain: Criticism, Defensiveness, Contempt and Stonewalling. If left unaddressed these can damage relationships to an unhealthy degree and lead to self-preservation and attacks against each other – but by understanding and countering each Horsemen with John Gottman’s “Four Antidotes,” your relationships will heal and transform into genuine care and affection for each other!

4. Super Lovers

Super Lovers

This Yaoi anime centres around two young men who meet again at their high school reunion and fall in love, creating an easygoing story without too many complications or surprises. Like Junjou Romantica, this tale also centres around multiple relationships.

Haru Kaido travels to Canada intending to care for and “civilize” his adopted brother Ren. But Ren is not easily trusting people and prefers staying alone. Throughout summer they become closer than ever.

One by one, they come to appreciate each other’s differences and form a deep friendship that soon grows into more intimacy before they decide to spend their lives together. But when Ren’s mother reenters their lives unexpectedly, questions emerge regarding the depth of their feelings for each other as well as whether or not their past will negatively influence their future together.

This anime has earned high praise for its romantic and sensual scenes, yet sometimes feels shallow and superficial between Haru and Ren. Their relationship would have benefitted more from exploring emotional bonds rather than sexual intimacy in season one; additionally, this may put off some viewers since age gaps between characters are common in Yaoi as well as other genres (historical romance novels may often feature older guardians seducing younger wards), thus alienating some audiences.

5. Hitorijime My Hero

Hitorijime My Hero

Masahiro Setagawa doesn’t believe in heroes, yet wishes he were one. For most of his life he has felt helpless; roped into an informal gang of street bullies as an errand boy without prospects or care from his mother. Things change for Setagawa when he makes friends with Kousuke Ohshiba (commonly known as “the bear killer”) who patrols his neighbourhood at night to break up fights between local gangs and take out their members.

Over time, Masahiro realizes his feelings for Kousuke go beyond mere admiration, and attempts to keep them hidden. Meanwhile, Asaya Hasekura–Kensuke’s old best friend whom he severed ties with after getting involved in a gang fight–transfers to his school and becomes his math teacher.

Hitorijime My Hero is an amazing tale about searching for belonging and finding that special someone, with some tender moments between two boys. Watching their relationship develop is truly heartwarming while watching how those around them react to their affection for each other only adds to its wholesomeness. Additionally, this series provides plenty of action as well as an intriguing B-romance between Kensuke and Hasekura that perfectly compliments its story arc.

6. Mignon

Mignon

Mignon, an underground fighter who participates in arena fights for money, frequently finds himself injured and in need of medical care. A compassionate doctor steps in and tries to persuade Mignon to leave this career path, developing an intimate bond with him due to their shared traumas; their odd connection adds layers of intrigue to this tale.

Though this 18+ BL anime contains explicit sex scenes, they do not dominate its plot. On the contrary, sensual encounters offer an enjoyable romantic experience as Mignon and Dr. Fox share a passionate relationship that forms its emotional

framework and drives forward its narrative arc.

Mignon seamlessly merges themes of homosexuality and fantasy in an engaging narrative, making this anime an essential watch for anyone who enjoys boy love (BL). With its stunning visuals and intriguing storyline, this anime makes an excellent choice to watch BL. Furthermore, its captivating characters undergo personal journeys that shape their growth and development while helping them to overcome internal challenges to emerge stronger; its climax is exhilarating; combining elements such as action drama romance to produce an exhilarating plot – plus, three episodes can be watched for free before paying one dollar for additional episodes if desired! Also noteworthy, only three episodes can be watched for free before additional payments must be made.
